The chlorophyll content is often highlighted, but chlorophyll has no established health benefits when consumed orally. Claims about 'living enzymes' are biologically meaningless as ingested enzymes are denatured by stomach acid.
How It Works
The proposed mechanisms for wheatgrass are largely pseudoscientific. Claims that chlorophyll 'detoxifies the blood' or 'alkalizes the body' have no physiological basis — blood pH is tightly regulated by the kidneys and lungs regardless of dietary input. The 'living enzymes' claim ignores that all plant enzymes are destroyed during digestion. Any genuine biological activity would come from its modest polyphenol, flavonoid, and standard vitamin/mineral content — nutrients available in greater quantities from common vegetables.
