Evidence for hair health
Saw Palmetto

Biotin
30%Limited evidence that supplemental biotin improves hair growth or reduces hair loss in people without biotin deficiency. Most positive studies are in deficient populations.
Mechanism of Action
Saw Palmetto

Saw Palmetto
No noticeable changes. 5-alpha reductase inhibition is gradual.
Best-designed studies show no significant improvement vs placebo.
Even with extended use, STEP and CAMUS trials showed no benefit over placebo.
Unlikely to provide meaningful prostate symptom relief based on current evidence.
Biotin
Hair and nail growth are slow โ no visible changes possible in this timeframe.
Nail brittleness may improve if biotin-deficient. Hair changes still not visible.
Some improvement in nail thickness/strength in deficient individuals.
If no improvement by 6 months, likely not deficient and supplement is unnecessary.
๐ค Can You Take Both?
โ These can generally be taken together safely. Many people stack both for complementary effects.
However, always start one at a time so you can identify which is responsible for any effects you notice.
